    Labor of love

    broken image

    Ken & Chellana

Ken's first love, the ocean, brought him on many memorable trips sailing along the breathtaking rocky coast of Maine. They say you don't choose the house, the house chooses you. With such a beautiful home, like his love of the ocean and his partner, this house captured his heart. The Captain's House, Circa 1830, sits perfectly atop Lunt Harbor with views of Cadillac Mountain within Acadia National Park. The house has been a pillar of this small island community and needed just the right person to take on the labor of love to restore this home to it's original beauty. This is home away from home, a place to relax, breathe in the fresh ocean air, explore the beautiful coastline, and sit by the fire enjoying the peace and quiet of this hidden treasure. We hope you fall in love with it, like we did.

  • Plan Your Stay

    Frequently Asked Questions

When should we plan our getaway?

We recommend a 3-4 day stay on the island. The Ferry runs Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. There is no ferry transport on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. Most common trip is a long weekend: Wednesday- Sunday or a quick weekend getaway: Friday- Sunday. If you're available during the week: Sunday- Wednesday is also a great alternative. Rentals for the 2025 summer season will begin on June 1st.

What is there to do on the island?

The island is a perfect place to decompress and enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors. There are 8 miles of hiking trails to explore. In the summer, there is a small library with artisan gifts for sale. You can sit out on the deck sipping coffee or a cocktail enjoying the harbor views. We have a large firepit where you can stargaze with wide-open views of the night sky. There is also a half-court for basketball and a soccer field just a short walk from the house. We also have wifi through Starklink so you will be connected indoors. If you enjoy wildlife, we have deers that may cross your path and eagles soaring overhead. If you like Maine lobster- you can get fresh lobster plucked straight from the ocean and delivered to your door by our local working fishermen. We are also planning to have bee hives to help pollinate the island with seasonal honey.

What do we bring with us?

There are no stores, restaurants, or bars on the island- part of the charm! You will want to stock up with all the essentials you'll need or desire during your stay. The car ferry runs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. You can pack up your car and drive directly from the boat to the house. If you come on Friday on the passenger ferry- you will be carrying your goods on and off the boat and up the hill to the house. We'd recommend a cooler for refrigerated goods and any food and alcohol you plan to enjoy. The house will be prepared with fresh clean linens on the beds and dishes, pans, and silverware in the kitchen. Other things to consider bringing along with you: a bike, stand-up paddleboard, binoculars, camera, art supplies, a few good books, and a pair of hiking shoes!

    How much does it cost?

Rates per night range from $250.- $285. All stays will have a $90. cleaning fee. Please reach out below through our contact us form for availability.

    What about our furry friends?

Yes! We are pet friendly! We are fortunate that the island is free from predators (outside of the eagles) and a perfect playground for your furry friends. Just no "furry" tarantulas.
